Curlin gets a few hundred new owners

On days like this, I love our judicial system. And might I just say, to those losers that took from those people...mwahahahahahahhahahaa. 8)

I wonder to whom and for how much Curlin will be sold. It's nearing fruition. There's the November sale I suppose or there's private sale. You gotta wonder if that means no 4yo campaign. Depends on a lot of things.

What an absolute circus. If he is sold I suppose Jackson and Sanan could get into an all out bidding war if each had a strong desire to stand him at their respective farms. Perhaps they will join forces and co own him. I can't imagine they would get outbid. I believe they own a combined 50% interest in him so a forty million dollar bid would only cost them 20 mill. That's chump change for both of them.

Jackson and Sanan own 80%, as it says in the article.

Well, I bet he's going to be gone to stud soon too. I'm sure the sheik is interested too.

What a mess!

Unfortunately, this will almost certainly mean that Curlin will join the exodus to the breeding shed instead of racing on at four -- those new people are going to want their money (and the lawyers even more so), and once the horse sells for eight figures, whoever gets him probably won't want to pay the insurance premiums to keep him running. Only hope of seeing him at the track next year is if Jackson and Sanan buy out the plaintiffs' interest and the lawyers will certainly want that option priced as high as possible.

If I were one of those 418 new owners, I would want him sold at auction in order to know that he was selling for market value, not some deal made by Jackson, et.al., with a bunch of lawyers behind closed doors.

Actually, if I were one of the 418 new owners, I'd want a breeding share, but I wouldn't expect to get it, and would settle for the BIGGEST bucks possible (including hopefully Coolmore and the Sheik and anybody else with lots of $ bidding against one another.)

Since the new owners are likely neither horsemen nor racing fans, I don't blame them for wanting to sell at the best price possible and get out. But I do regret the fact that this more than likely means we've seen the last of Curlin as a racehorse.

I have to agree with Mahubah, I think the only thing that would satisfy the 418 new owners is syndication as that will unquestionably yield the most money. Damn I really wanted to see Curlin come back.

Who's coming back now? Tiago, Midnight Lute... anyone else?
