BANKSITA and *PIZARRO

Postby [email protected] » Mon Nov 12, 2007 12:19 pm

Sorry folks...have taken this to the "Research" side of things...and thus far seems pretty quiet there.

All my stud books, etc...are still packed after my recent move back to So. Cal.

*PIZARRO, bay horse, 1916 by BONAROSA out of BECKY by JOHN O'GAUNT....I'm wondering if anyone here might know if he has a race record? I know he was in northern California in 1936 standing as a US Remount. He did not sire any Jockey Club foals. I'm wondering also, who bred him and if possible...who brought him to the US. Not to be confused with the *PIZARRO of 1880.

BANKSITA, by horse 1926 by BANK out of CASITA by ENFIELD. He was bred by S.S. Eakle of Williams, Ca. He had a full-sister, PRINCESS BANK (1925) who won $505. I'm wondering if BANKSITA raced? Again...there are no Jockey Club foals...only "half-breeds". He evidently remained a stallion and in the northern California area...as one of his colts was foaled in 1946, and one possibly as early as 1933 or thereabouts.

Thanks, Pat

Pizarro was sent to America from England as an unnamed foal in 1916. He was bred at Compton Stud. This information is taken from vol. XXIII of The GSB.

That's all the info I have at my end...
