Look what a TB can do!

Check out their other pages for more pictures but this stallion certainly shows what is possible with a little time and training. There is a world beyond racing.

It's great to see a TB--much less a stallion--being used and enjoyed in so many different ways. The shots of him with his equine buddies were wonderful too. Too bad all our horses can't live that way.

A horse that is only worth $1800, no matter how many things he can do, should not be reproducing.

"There is a Live Foal Guarantee if the mare is ultrasounded for pregnancy between 14-21 days post-breeding, "

So if I'm early or Late with my preg check, I waive my LFG????

These people should not be breeding, let a lone have a stallion..

Wow, I think that he is a wonderful representative of what a TB can do. Why again should he not be bred? he certainly seems to be well bred and is multi talented.

I thought $1800 was a heck of a deal for him. How many tbs can you find that are that versatile? maybe not bred to race but he is a great tb sporthorse candidate. There are very few successful tb sporthorse sires, that have actually shown in anything besides racing. We need some more tb sporthorses like him to represent the tbs in other areas besides racing...so when your tb's are retired off the track people will consider them for prospects in other sports.

I thought the no LFG was a very responsible thing to do. Maybe they want the mare checked to make sure there are not twins. A responsible owner/breeder won't be late on that pregnancy check. And waving the LFG over the mare owners head will make them get that check asap, and insure there are no issues.

The breeding info seems to the point and informative, and the owners seem to be reasonable folks with a good handle on what they are doing with their horses. The stallion is not being promoted to the racing crowd, but to the sporthorse market, and with a reasonable breeding fee.

As for the horse himself, his damsire is a TOURBILLON line sire, his siblings made some money, and seemed to be a fairly durable lot--some with 55, 77 starts, he's both a breeding stallion, eventer, and works cows. Also nice looking. What's not to like?

I wish there as a straightforward conformation picture on their website, as he
has a bit of the Discovery look to him. Now a lot of that could be color and markings, and of course Discovery is way far back in the pedigree, but still...

He might be of interest to the sport horse color breeders, with that bright red coat, and white socks, he might make lovely palomino babies.

He's nice looking and sound. At least his parents raced and won some money, as did he. They are using him to do most anything. And his foals are doing most everything!

I think he looks like a bargain. I also think folks would be amazed at what the Thoroughbred could do if given the chance.

The smartest thing stock horse breeders could do today, is put in a big dose of Thoroughbred blood. After all, he was the foundation to begin with!

All of my Paints will be bred Thoroughbred for the next generation...

It's much better to breed 50 or 100 mares to the likes of The Green Monkey, right, because he sold for an ungodly amount of money? I doubt that this horse is breeding more than a dozen mares a year -- of all breeds.

Silesia Flash is the anti-stereotypical TB, and the "poster boy" for "TBs have lives after the track". I think if he was a few years younger (I think he's 19) or located in PA or California or even in the South rather than in Montana, he'd be worth considerably more than $1800.

I was thinking the same thing Linda...his location. He is more marketable on the east coast. He's the type of horse I would love to have. I'm just not in the market for a stallion right now.

Actually, there is already a substantial amount of TB blood in stock horses. Some are by blood more TB than anything (particularly when it comes to those bred for racing or the hunter ring.

My question is - since he's so wonderful (and he obviously is), why are they selling him?

They probably have their reasons. I have sold many great horses (and could kick myself in the butt for doing it!)

First answer off the top of my head is that he's a stud at a working ranch. If all of your good ranch mares are too closely related to your stud, it's time for a new herd stud. He's only 19 and looks to be in good condition, so he has some time as a good using horse. Why not?
