FLY TO THE STARS

Postby Waternymph » Thu Jan 06, 2005 4:44 am

What do you guys think of him as a sire?? He is standing in France in 2005. His first crops are only 2 years old. He is by Bluebird.
Thanks :D

IMO FTTS is one of the ugliest horses I have ever seen, his progeny aren't the best either. He won the GR.1 as a pacemaker that didn't burn out.

Hope my opinion helps!

FTTS is ugly if Darley cannot achieve a good photo of a horse no one can.

yes yes I'm choosing for a mare , I'm interested in a mare in the U.S and I'm also thinking to get a sire for her in the U.S. and than bring her to Europe. The problem I need a great turf sire and it is not so easy to find it in the U.S. :?
Might be better to find it in Europe. Price is depende ...ok not Storm Cat fee :D

How can you say Fly To The Stars is an ugly horse. And to be honest breeding racehorse has little to do with the prettiness or ugliness of a stallion. Yes he won his Gr.1 as a pacemaker, but in the Lockinge Stakes he beat Champion Turf male Intikhab, and Gr.1 winner Jim And Tonic. But he also won the Gr.2 Prix du Rond-Pont and the Gr.3 Prix Messidor, again beating Gr.1 winner Jim And Tonic. So he was a true Group performer. But don't forget he was a top handicapper as a 3yr old. His Britannia Handicap victory was rated by timeform as the best performance in a handicap race for many years. He hails from the great Storm Bird line. His maternal Grandsire is the legandary racehorse and sire Mill Reef. But not only that he is also from the immediate of Gr.1 Champion and successful sire Nashwan, and successful sire Unfuwain, and new sire Nayef. His first crop raced in 2004, and he was the sire of 3 winners from just 14 runners (21%), from a crop that include just 21 foals! But what is even more surprising is that Fly To The Stars did not win as a 2yr old and Bluebird is not famed for producing 2yr olds! And going back to the point that he is an ugly individual, he did cost 125,000gns or roughly $240,000. So yearlings that sell for that much, can't be that ugly. How many stallions standing at 2,300euros has boast all this. I am proud to have sent one of my best mares to him. He is a much underestimated stallion and you could do a lot worst. (Remember Intikhab, who was beaten by Fly To The Stars, stands at 8,000euros, and Gold Away, who was also beaten by Fly To The Stars, stands at 5,000euros, and is sire of dual Gr.1 winner Alexander Goldrun.)

It's really too bad that you didn't try this a couple of years ago, as With Approval (CAN) has since moved to Europe. He was one of our best turf values, hands down.

Otherwise, for quality US-based turf stallions, I'd look at both Cozzene and Theatrical.

I want to give you some good news on a classic nick between Northern Dancer mares and Pleasant Colony.

If you own any Pleasant Colony mares breed them to Fly to the Stars.

This classic nick has produced a prolific amount of superior runners.

Look up the ND mares that were bred to Pleasant Colony and you will find this classic nick in action.
Those without sin cast the first stone.
