Has anyone else had problems with the occasional wrap around ads they put on these things as far as receiving them?

I just had the ad for this weeks issue show up ... without the magazine. Must have pulled away from the glue and slipped out.

This is the first time I've had that happen, but I have had them arrive in the past with the wrap extremely tattered and barely hanging on. One time only the back of the ad showed up.

I got this year's Travers edition with a hole in it that went through the first 50 pages. Now I ask you, how did that occur? The mailman attacked it with a screwdriver???
Also, I didn't get this year's Derby or Breeder's Cup issues, so I phoned them and politely asked for a new one (which they were nice enough to send to me).

When I lived in Georgia, I was lucky to get anything at all--even a tattered copy arriving 2-3 weeks late was a triumph. Now that I'm in Kentucky I generally get my copy overnight and in good condition, which makes life so much easier.

The Blood Horse is great about replacing copies that don't arrive. In the six years I lived in Atlanta, I probably had them re-send me about 100 issues. They never complained and always mailed them right out.

The Blood Horse and other magazines are as good about replacing them as the post office is about stealing or mutilating them.....

Sam,

I had this exact experience once about a month ago.

At least I know it's not just me.

I've never had a problem getting replacement issues (when I first subscribed years ago, my letter carrier was stealing them on a pretty predictable schedule -- all six weeks of the triple crown, the Dubai World Cup and the two Breeder's cup issues. Sometimes they'd show up as much as a month later, if they ever showed up at all), I was just curious if anyone had ever had JUST the wrap show up. If it's even a semi-common thing, you'd think they'd come up with a better way to get that ad out.

I once had a mail carrier that was reading mine too. The issues that were sent shrink wrapped always arrived at least a week ahead of the those that could be opened and read.

I had a mail carrier who must have been plagued by guilt, he would yank the magazine out of the cover and I would receive just the cover and back page, slid back into the plastic sleeve....now, since I moved to my farm, it is so much simpler -- I don't get any at all. The *rick is either too lazy to deliver them or keeps them all for himself... something else to deal with Monday.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with delivery problems. I got my first two issues of Bloodhorse (early December) and haven't seen one since. Thanks for posting the info about the replacements. I hadn't thought of that. I'll give them a call.

He's not on 24/7 8) Might be best to send him a private message through this site.

Funny this one just got 'bumped' 8)

After I'd sent an email asking them to send a replacement issue, I was going through my 2004s looking for something and noticed I'd never received the 12/25 issue ... I got an email saying the replacement one was on its way so I thanked them and told them the 12/25 issue went AWOL too ... go out to check the mail and the bloody thing is sitting in the box.

Gotta love the USPS. head shake

I've had positive experiences with the BloodHorse.

This year I missed an issue between renewals, and that happened to be the one with the 2005 Stallion Register. I called their offices and they sent me a Register within a couple of days. I was highly impressed.

Never had any trouble with mangled magazines either. Maybe you guys have really brutal post people

I've got a great mailman, he hand-delivers it and knocks on the door and asks me personally who I like. Luckily, over the years, I've given him some winners. Hopefully that continues.
