Windfields closing effectvie November 1st

Postby Galileo1998 » Fri Jul 04, 2008 5:38 pm

Subject title says it all I guess. After November 1st there will just be about 20 family owned horses there - all outside horses and stallions will be gone. It was to be expected, but it's going to be sad to drive past and watch it get turned into a subdivision. :(

I heard this sad bit of news yesterday and must admit I was a little shocked. I guess I knew it would happen eventually but didn't realize it would be so soon. There will be quite a shift with clients looking to board, etc. I never thought to ask - what will happen to the stallions? Will Gustav stand Mobil at his farm? What of Whiskey Wisdom and Weather Warning? It is the end of an era :(

That is too bad.
Mr. Taylor would roll over in his grave.
I have room for about 6 boarders. If anyone is asking.

Didn't they do this years ago?? They were closing, turned public just after the "Boss" died... I did work for them then.

What a shame. It's been tough over the last few years watching this iconic farm being developed into subdivisions.

:( That is very sad news indeed.

Too bad no one can step in and keep it as a farm.

Is this really true? What's the source of the news?

I'm looking at some old racetracks today that have been long gone and some recently like Garden State Park. Sadly what is replacing GSP is yet another one of those "towne centers/centres" that are carbon copies of other ones across the U.S. I find it ironic too that the one here in Annapolis is being built over the site of a harness racetrack and before that, where Civil War soldiers were "paroled" (released from duty/imprisonment).

Sad indeed that Windfields as we knew it is gone for good. Good to hear that they will preserve Northern Dancer's final resting place.

I will be a little more PC at Chris' request, it's too bad, but the wheels seemed to have been in motion for a while now.
