Found dead in his apartment this morning, according to DRF. What a terrible shame, great race caller. Ill miss his calls.

What a shame. He was only 45.

Oh no! He was a super guy and I remember him as the caller at Turf Paradise in '94 when I was there,he even stopped by here at Fort Erie only a few years ago. Very crisp clear and no-nonsense commentary, what a terrible shame.

I wonder who will replace him at Churchill and Turf Paradise? Tony Calo subbed for him at TP but he recently took a position at Finger Lakes. He's a west coast guy and I'm sure he would love to come back west.

RIP Luke.

I don't know about Churchill, but Mike Battaglia has stepped in at Ellis.

Today's first race, however, was run without a caller as a tribute to Luke.
