Looking at a mare for sale - need pedigree advice.
This mare I'm looking at is Midnight Mist, a daughter of Green Desert out of Mountains of Mist. Several blacktype winners in female pedigree. 2nd dam a grade 1 stakes winner in Europe. Half sibling to a couple blacktype winners. And I hear green desert is making a reputation of being a good broodmare sire. can I get everyone's opinion?

If you don't mind European grass breeding then she's a very nice prospect.
Green Desert mares have produced more than 50 stakes winners, the mare was a winner, and she's a half to a graded stakes winner.
Despite the synthetic tracks increasing the appeal of grass breeding that still hasn't really had a big effect at the established sales. In a Kentucky sale her foals would need to be by some serious sires with serious European appeal to really do well commercially. And this mare on paper seems like she'd be good enough to warrant sending her to a pretty nice stallion.
It looks like you're in California so with synthetics being the thing out there that's good for you and she's liable to throw some really nice synthetic runners (or traditional grass runners) if you're breeding to race.

ok... i was looking to see what her production is. She has a yearling by Titus Livius and a weanling by Dubawi. Both were foaled in GB. I just can't imagine that this mare was recently exported to USA.
There is a 1993 mare with the same name who was born in Florida. Is that the mare you mean, by chance?

ok... not to be unkind, but I think someone is pulling our leg and I call bullsh*t
I emailed the original poster because I didn't get the answer to my question. I seriously doubt that the Green Dancer mare was exported to the USA. And my guess that IF she were for sale, the price would be far more than the rescue mare she was looking at before.
What was the point of the post, Valley?

I don't appreciate your rudeness....I don't know what happened to the mare. I recieved an email from someone saying she was no longer available. For all I know, it could have been the same mare and it could have been the 1993 mare, or it could have been just a show name for another mare. I have no idea! I only commincated with the owner once, and did not have all the info I needed. So, in the beginning there was a point to the post....assuming I had the right mare or not, but honestly, do you not have anything else to do with your time than to rudely dismiss people as bullshiters??? By the way, the original mare I was referring to was a Green Desert mare, not Green Dancer.

that's exactly what I suspected... we took the time to take your posted information and do searches and research for you. AND then it turns out that you did not have complete or accurate information.
That's annoying and a complete waste of time, especially when there are people on this board who do want to ask important questions and have done their own homework.
I'm not trying to be rude, but I certainly will think twice before doing a detailed research on any of your requests.
I'm not being rude, but I am being pointed in my discussion. I feel like you have wasted MY time.

free advice.... when you post a request, make sure you give us TOTAL information. If you're guessing about a pedigree, let us know. Let us know how you obtained the information and be totally upfront. If your original post you clearly stated the pedigree with no questions. That's the frustrating part.
I feel the same way when i respond to ads online for horses for sale and the owners can't tell me information or make me call them for it. I want to be able to do my research and have complete info. Call me compulsive, but that is my request and yes, my buttons.
peace, Valley... i was a little stern. My bad. And that would have been a dandy mare to have owned!
