Foals of 2005

Postby LSB » Tue Jan 18, 2005 3:28 pm

The farm where I board my mares had their first foal of the year the other day, and I went this morning to visit. An adorable bay filly by Tiznow o/o a half sister to Lion Heart. She was as cute as could be and made me even more impatient for my first to arrive. I have one due in a week, though I've been told she'll probably go late.

Does anyone have any foals yet? What do you all have coming this year?

aggghhh!!! I am counting down the days and the hours! Its a sickness I tell you - a REAL sickness! :D

Perfect Music (in foal to Sato) is due on April 27th and Puchi Trap (in foal to Guaranteed Gold once again!) is due on May 31st

And breeding season is getting off to a quick start - can hardly wait! We have mares coming in to bred from all over North America to both boys, so I am thrilled at the response thus far!

UGH True Colors...I am NOT ready for breeding season to start, we have quite a few mares coming in to Meadaaar and also getting good interest in Jelly Roll Rock (could it be the free stud fee on him?) Only 6 of the foaling mares are mine so between foaling and breeding I am trying to catch all the sleep I can now since there will be none again until June! AWW SHUCKS! Now if only it wasnt -3 outside

I'm just trying to keep track of which of my mares are going where and at what time. Instead of simply foaling in one location, I've sent a maiden mare to Texas for breeding to Authenticate, am sending three mares to foal in KY in March and April and May to be bred to KY studs Saarland, Millennium Wind, and Arch, in that order. I'm sending one to New York to foal in May and be bred to an as yet undetermined NY stud for a commercial foal. Her 2005 Include foal will become a NY-bred.

We are waiting til March. The first mare due had a red bag delivery last year so am anxious about that one......everyone else is a non maiden with no history of any problems so not as concerned about them. Have 2 in March and 1 in April. Then we had an open mare come down w/ cellulitis last year. She was a late breeding by the time we got her fixed up and now not due til June 1. Worse, it looks like the cellulitis is BACK again/ back on meds. UGHHHHH!

Our mare is, anyway. :D Daughter of Cozzene, in foal to Syncline.
However, she's gone 30 days over with both her first two, so I'm not as anxious this time.
Her '04 filly started out as a breech, so they'll watch her closely.

"sigh", can you beleive it, no foal watch this year.....mare foaled too late to breed last year so I am actually missing the waiting. I know, I must be nuts to miss the watching, and waiting and listening. If all goes well I will be getting her bred in the next couple months.

My one and only is due end-feb beginning of march- but she has been bagging up for a week now, but I haven't ever foaled her before so she is just being watched  can't wait!

Ruffian..they will drive you crazy bag up a month before, drip milk for a week and then stop completely so when you decide to sleep they decide to foal. Not bag until after they foal....you gotta love this time of year :D Its the BEST!
