Fort Erie Racetrack

Postby Maureen » Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:03 am

It's a go for 2009! What a relief for those of us that have horses that only like the dirt. Haven't heard all the detail's yet, but we do get 78 days, the same number as 2008.

Let's hope we get some new blood in there, front and backside!

I am happy for my northern friends but they will just burn more horsemen's money there unless they clean house, as the hbpa are adding $500,000 into the pot. I was tickled that they plan to run it as a "non profit" operation.........that's a given.

You guys really worked hard for that. I hope that the changes needed can be made to get things on a solid footing.

You are quite right, Wilf. Unless there is some major housekeeping, we will just end up in the very same place at the end of the 2009 season, and Nordic will say "see, we told you live racing isn't viable".

The horsemen need to stay active and work together to ensure that the track is run to its full potential, the goal being continued racing for years to come!

Well, for a start: same race secretary....
The sport and industry survive not only because of the champions that are remembered forever but also because of the losers that are so easy to forget...

I find it hard to believe that the same people (Director of Racing, Director of Public Relations, & Racing Secretary) that had a big hand in destroying the viability of racing at Fort Erie will still be in charge. That is INSANE. There is no hope for this track with these people in charge. Time to clean things up and get some people in charge with vision and ability.

The "rest" the racing community (and most of you know what I mean) need to take these concerns to the EDTC and let them know how we feel about the present management remaining in power. If nothing is said, then nothing will change!
