End of drive horse statues

Postby tammysinnett » Thu Aug 27, 2009 10:51 am

I found these statues at a auction...fell in love and somehow they found their way to my home. We plan to put at the end of our drive but I would like to make them look better.....clean them, stain them- anyone have any suggestions that would not take to much talent??? Our fences are woodsey and the rough look, our house also looks like a cabin with a green metal roof so we plan to put these on dark brown bricks with the white grout...unless someone has a better idea.....my new project looking for any suggestions. thankyou

Cool!

I'd go to a craft store like Michael's and get a paint that would make them look like bronze statues.

We have a couple concrete cowgirl/cowboy statues - did the bronze thing - bought flat black paint and a darker brown paint - painted the 1st coat black - let it dry thoroughly - then dry brushed the brown on the high spots - really made them look like aged metal. Have had them several years - just repeat the process when they get grungy looking.
