In hand?

Postby Lisann » Mon Sep 21, 2009 9:23 am

How should a TB be set up for in hand classes? Would you set up differently for a hunter breeding class than for a halter class at a local show?

We are thinking of taking some young horses to show halter at some local shows to get them "life experience".

Lisann, I don't know the answer to your question but I'm in Missouri, too, and would like to know when and where this show will be.
Thanks.

Well, there are a few. They are cheap and close to me.
9/26 at Double Eagle Ranch in Elsberry, MO
10/3 at Lincoln Co Fairgrounds in Troy, MO
10/10 Troy (no halter - fun/games only)
10/17 at NEC in Lake St Louis, MO
10/24 Troy

There are others over the winter in LSL, too.

What part of MO are you from? We are in Pike County.

I don't know your shows, but here's a suggestion - Find out if the judge is affiliated with any series of shows or breeds.

If the judge is an AQHA or APHA (QH or Paint) person, teach them to stand square.

If the judge is a USEA/hunter person, teach them to stand offset.

Good luck!
