Cryptoclearance is gone

Postby BookieBuster » Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:50 am

Cryptoclearance died last night. Complications of colic.

I tried to add a note to his pedigree page but was informed that changes cannot be made.

He was one of my favorites. A deep closer.

What a shame, I'll have to send condolences to Steve Johnson. We'll miss you big guy.

Ohhh .... I have a mare in foal to him! I had always wanted to send him a mare and I got the chance this year. And she is firmly in foal. Her name is Express to Boston.

RIP, Crypto, old boy, you were a good one.

Crypto gave of himself mightily while on the track thundering to close on the lead in deep stretch ......and he gave to the breed as a whole in passing on the - today - rare commodity of his innate stamina and sturdiness when he went to stud.

His influences on the thoroughbred were all of a 'class' in nature. When I think of modern stamina or so-called "professional" attributes in N.A. branch of the breed I think of Cryptoclearance, Cure The Blues and Lemon Drop Kid....perhaps Birdstone now? Not too many others of 'my' vintage come to mind that were both outstanding on the track and capable of passing on these 'stayer' qualities to their offspring for future generations/breeders.

RIP ol' boy.

Express to Boston? She's the one who produced your Street Cry filly, isn't she? Have you had any word back on how the filly is doing? I looked her up on equineline but she hasn't raced yet.

Yes, Mahubah, it is the same mare. The Street Cry filly is named Vine Street and has had a published work or two at Saratoga, but nothing yet. She is a two year old.

Well, I'm glad Express to Boston is repaying your kindness to her well. May her Cryptoclearance foal arrive safe, sound, and healthy.

Thanks, we hope so too!!

So sad about old Crypto - when I saw him in the breeding shed it was just impossible to even believe he was 25 yrs old. Fertile to the end, too.

I got an email from Margaux today about him. Always wanted to breed to him; the closest I got was buying a granddaughter (a Victory Gallop).

Enjoy yours, madelyn.

So sorry for his connections & for Kona Gold's, as well.

It's been tough out there lately!

How true that Cryptoclearance produced sturdiness and stamina. One of my all-time favorite horses is Crypto's grandson--a stakes winner who is still out there winning races as a nine year old.

My condeolences to those who cared for and loved Cryptoclearance.

Hey, I just thought of a great name for ETB's Crypto foal of 2010 - Final Clearance.
