Will be bringing a string of horses to run at Emerald Downs in WA state. I'm wondering if he will actually train here or will he have an assistant. :?: I know a lot of top CA trainers come up for the Longacres Mile, but none to bring a string to run here. I think it will be around 25 horses or so. This otta be good!!

no, he won't be training them. I would guess he'll probably use a guy like Tom Roberts. Roberts took a string of horses to Ohio for him, they work closely together for stalls, filling races & claiming horses in Northern California. Roberts has roots up in your neck of the woods.

Jerry trains a large stable, and can only be the direct supervisor in one place at a time. I'm sure he will have delegated the authority to an assistant trainer, and will keep in touch by cell-phone and through periodic visits.

Hollendorfer had a string in Hastings last year and only came when his horse ran in a 100k stake. He probably wont come to EmD often.

Not surprising at all to me that Jerry would bring horses to EMD. One of his biggest clients is from the Seattle Area. (George Todaro.)

Like in any business, some people are able to perform well only in a limited setting, with hands-on leadership, unable or unwilling to delegate responsibilities to others in their charge. Others, like D. Wayne Lucas, Steve Asmussen, and probably Jerry Hollendorfer, can manage a multi-site stable well.

I would assume if you can afford the day rate, you will get good quality service. In fact, I would exspect it.

Let me know when they're starting. I love to cash a ticket.
