Girth Strap

Postby karenkarenn » Sun Nov 15, 2009 3:41 pm

Hello
When our filly came back from winning her race I noticed that the cord or strap that goes through the loops on the cinch had came out and dangled. Does that mean that the Saddle is coming off?
for example look at GGF 11/14 race 2, number five when she gallops back to the winners circle.
I dont know the names of the strap so I can't really go into much detail that what I have.

No, that would be the overgirth strap. There is excess strap to give you leverage when you tighten it down. It gets tucked away afterwards but can come undone. The overgirth as well as the regular girth were still in place.

Congratulations! And for $20,000 as well. I hope you drove down for the race. :D

I did drive down. Boy there is lots to talk about seeing GGF as an owner for the first time.
Irene - I know, I think it was just a couple months ago that it was 14,000.
And the weird thing is is the INDYANNE that we were hoping to get in didnt go through. So were did the 50000 go to?
What I got money was is enough to cover my portion for three months now.
Laurierace- thanks for the info, I was worried that the whole thing was going to come off the moment he got off. It was just dangling there.

Oh and the weird part was our trainer had three horses. One on Friday, ours on Sat and his on Sunday ( that he owns) and they won..!
All three of them won! I was Shocked.

The trainer got his 10% and the trainers take care of the grooms, I believe.

Typically these days owners get billed a groom stake (1%). The wiining jock's agent buys the donuts. :D

Boy she's a big long striding filly. She might like the grass course too. Good luck with her.

Silly thought -- but each time I see this item (Girth Strap) it sounds like a satirical name for a country singer.

Zinn
Originally this race was supposed to be on the Grass, but it rained in the morning so they canceled all the grass races for the day.

Patuxet- your right.
