Shammy Davis wrote:As far as the small TB breeder is concerned, I suggest a break away from the traditional state and national organizations and formation of a national small TB breeder cooperative.
I thought Shammy had such a great idea that I created a yahoo group for breeders & buyers to exchange "For Sale" and "Wanted" information.
There is NO charge for this site. It is not an organization, but is open to people who want an outlet other than the auctions and internet sales sites. It's just one more way to get the word out on your horses.
To join:
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Thor ... _Alliance/
The rules of this site are simple:
Be kind and courteous to each other. No negative comments about someone else's horse or pricing on the list. This isn't a forum for discussing whether you thing something is overpriced or poorly bred (plenty of places to discuss that on pedigreequery!).
Stick to the topic of either offering weanlings, yearlings, 2 y.o.s or broodmares for sale - or posting "horse wanted" ads which are on the same topic. (If you've got a left-over 3 y.o. that you bred, you can post them, too, but the focus is horses from their breeders to the track, not horses which have already started or already done at the track.)
If you placed or purchased a horse via the elist & need transport to move the horse, feel free to also post "transportation wanted" ad. But this is NOT the place to advertise your horse transport business.
FOR EACH POST, the location, state where bred, age, sex, and whether you are buying or selling should be in the Subject line.
For example:
FOR SALE in PA, PA-bred Yearling Colt by Ecclesiastic
or
WANTED KY-bred 2 y.o. either sex, broke & galloping
Then in the body of the post would be further information on the horse(s), and contact information.
IF you are a seller and someone approaches you to buy something you don't have, please, as a courtesy to other members of the list, post the requirements in a WANTED ad. You should not post the buyer's contact information unless you have his/her permission, but please pass any appropriate responses to the buyer - and invite them to join the list.
Please pass the word to others, as this list will only be useful if we have a lot of members who actively participate.
Please introduce yourself in your first post with whatever information is appropriate.
