Never to young

Postby Skipitgirl » Sun Jan 17, 2010 7:14 pm

I wanted to share a picture of my 4 yr old daughter cleaning her ponys stall. She has been doing barn chores for about a year and is in complete charge of caring for her pony. She also cleans the stall and feeds "her" 9 month old AQHA colt Pistol. Anyway, it was about 10 degrees when I took this pic last week. She is always ready to go to the barn and will even tell me when its time for the horses dinner LOL!

Adorable. Where is the pony? My daughter cleans out her mini with a wee plastic fork and a Little Tikes wheelbarrow. I would bet the toy manufacturer didn't envision manure in it. ;)

A great way to develop good values during their formative years. She looks so happy. Hanging around horses has that effect even with a poop stick in one's hand...

Cute daughter! And yes, the 10 degree weather is still a very close memory for me :(

It is touching how much little girls like feeding animals. My five year old will walk quite far in deep snow to give out carrot or apple peelings. She just loves feeding anything. :) I think giving kids a chance to learn and nurture something is so valuable. I loved 4-H as a kid learning about feed, hay, and soil qualities.
