In Search of farm to rent, anyone know of one?

Postby Runnerandrider » Wed Feb 03, 2010 4:13 pm

Looking for a farm with home to rent appropriate for horses (small thoroughbred breeder). Prefer FL, GA, SC, NC, PA, or NJ. Open to any location however. My job allows me to work from home, so location is not a real issue. Professional, insured, with references. Seeking 20+ acres (will consider less if done well), barn is a HUGE bonus (10 stalls would be great!), ring an even bigger bonus. Hoping to stay under 2k a month (well under if possible). Willing to do some work for the right farm to make suitable (such as fencing, repairs, etc). I will maintain your farm in pristine condition, and have references to this point. So, does anyone have anything or know someone who does? Please PM with details. I hope this is allowed as I am FED UP with my current farm's drainage issues (we are below sea level on the coast of GA and my entire farm right now, including stalls, is soaking wet). Thanks in advance. Edited to ad that my current lease is up at the end of Feb, so I am not leaving my landlord in a tough spot :)

Get a copy of The Horse of the Delaware Valley - they always have lots of farms for sale and lease. Might be able to see classifieds online. Good luck.

I have a friend with 30 acres that is devided into 6 paddocks all with run in sheds plus an eight stall barn. in Winchester VA which is very close to Charles Town Race and Slots. Nice 3 RB two bath house off the road which really makes it quite and peaceful..

Only problem it is for sale not for rent.

Griff, that sounds amazing!! Its a shame I am not looking for a purchase right now, because that would have been perfect :)

28 acres w/ 6 stall barn N of Ocala, FL - only $600!

Postby pwynnnorman » Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:55 pm

This place is advertised (was?) in last week's (Ocala) Wire to Wire (racing weekly). I called on it for someone wanting to winter down here, but the owner wants to lease it at least through next November (or beyond). Here's what the ad reads:

For Rent: 28.5 acres w/6-stall CB barn/2 tack rooms and 20'x40' efficiency/apartment office. $600 per month + utilities. Located at I-75 and Hwy 318. (859)992-3500.

When I called, he said all 28 acres are in pasture. Good luck!
