KY AG 2010 Mixed Bag

Postby Shammy Davis » Mon Feb 22, 2010 2:11 pm

"The Thoroughbred industry, which has recently been the largest single part of farm gross receipts in Kentucky, has had a particularly difficult time," Infanger said. "The global recession has pushed auction sale prices down for two years, with prices being down 30 to 40 percent in recent sales. When you combine the reduced income from Thoroughbred sales with lower prices for grain, milk and hogs, the result is lower income on most Kentucky farms this year."

This could be an omen of things to come as we in the mid-Atlantic try to figure out what to do w/all our mud.

Can't get into bricks because it looks like the straw crop is going to be a little late this year.

Mud baths in Central VA is not going to be a money maker. Everyone has mud now. From the looks of things, it is going to be here for a couple of months. Why should they come to me when all they have to do is step out into what was their front lawn and fall on their face.
