My new kid

Postby spex4me » Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:18 am

Well according to my husband I have leaped overboard again and have acquired a new addition to the farm.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/saluki+showtime

Her dam has had 7 foals 4 to race 4 winners 3 Black Type. Her sire is a full sibling to 2 very nice stallions in Europe that have done pretty decent in a short amount of time at stud there, Dr. Fong and Lucky Story. They also have had a wee bit more quality as far as mare selection too.

I am interested in any input people have because I am not really familiar with the Buckpasser side of things. I read 50% of information that seems in favor and then the rest that is not, so if any one has anything to add I would love to hear it. (Good or bad I can take it! )

some thoughts, and best of luck with the horse! i get optimistic about any pedigree containing Spend A Buck, who was whisked out of Ky with their usual lack of patience. unknown what others think, but my evaluation of this pedigree--you have either a runner or a horse that might get overly chunky. could go either way??? Seattle Slew + Buck Passer + Kris S. + Hail To Reason + miswaki + Prince John line-- big boned.

on the plus side this filly should be able to breathe. the great separator. and also run. i think you did well! I have one with Kris S close up. kind, stout, easy to train, hardly the brightest bulbs out there.

Thanks for the encouraging words. When I first looked at her I thought she looked like Buckpasser, since I was told over and over he was supposed to be what many considered ideal for a race horse. The when I found out the dam was by Spend a Buck I either thought I had a great eye and an awesome memory or I was purely in fantasy land making things up..... probably more the latter hahaha  !!
When I get her home I will take better conformation pics. She's a spitfire, 15.2, and very unlike her 3 yr old half sister I have, who is quite dense and petite but eager to please. :)

Congrats on the new mare. Looking forward to pictures.

One of my favorite broodmares had Spend A Buck. http://www.blazingcoloursfarm.com/goldenbelle.html

Gorgeous, gorgeous pedigree! Love Buckpasser female families, since our 'foundation' mare of our little homebred string is a great-granddaughter of Buckpasser. I got to meet her grandpop, Bucksplasher, a few years ago in FL. Classy, great eye, the epicenter of Irish Acres farm. I'd love to see your gal on the grass with that Miswaki/Slew nick going on...best of luck!

Thanks again!! I am intimidated though as should I get her to the track I am the one who looks like a schmuck trainer/owner if she doesn't perform ala her siblings..... actually I am scared  !! Plus I have quite a few whispering in my ear to take her to FT MidAtlantic 2 y.o. sale. But even if she has talent, I don't think her pedigree is an attention getter to who would be buying as it is to me, lol!

My hope is to have her ready to grab a late turf run at Colonial. Her 3 year old half sister I have is a Favorite Trick/Miswaki sprinting blaze , who I am excited to see make her debut at Colonial this year too, though she should prefer dirt per pedigree. I don't know but these 'kids' have me on pins and needles with anticipation!! :D
