I think its a great marketing idea. Its about time racing is trying to grab a younger demographic.

Misguided...
Unfortunately, the reality is that the younger folks just will not push enough money through the till to support the industry. It's the middle-aged and older serious punters that undergird the sport, IMO: those that play every week (maybe even every day) and bet a lot per race.
The "freak / preak" come-out-once fan will probably only be a small bettor, and will eventually be chased away when they figure out it's not an easy way to make a buck. (If they're spending their own, and not their parents', money, that is!)

It is a clever play on words, though ...

Actually, I didn't think it was bad. Obviously trying to appeal to the younger generation, which, by the way, we need! I wouldn't care to be in the drunken infield of the Preakness, and I don't think that Pimlico ought to tolerate as much of that as they do, but as a slogan, I thought it was catchy. Certainly a lot better than the Lori Petty campaign, which is the low standard that I judge against.

Ah yes, the "Freakness!"

Perseveres with his heart
And wins with his character. --Tesio
