I even read on one occasion, perhaps it was some sort of joke, that he once rode a harness racing equine, somehow similar to former Major League Baseball pitcher, John Montefusco. In the case of Montefusco, as far as I know, he became an official harness racing rider. As per Bol, I am under the impression that he was very friendly to Thoroughbred racing too.

Aside from this angle, I find that Manute's genuine interest in helping his impoverish country, especially the more disadvantaged (kids and sick people) is a very noble angle worth mentioning and praising.

He was one of those people that just by looking at his eyes you could tell he was a truly good soul. It was torture to watch him a few years back in that celebrity boxing match, but he did it for his charities.
