There was a topic months ago on this . . .
I remember as a kid trying to talk my Dad into changing from "Half and Half" pipe tobacco (never thought to ask him "Half what?") to Kentucky Club, so I could send in the box tops & try to win a Derby horse. (At least as a kid, I thought that's what the contest was about - I maybe didn't read the rules closely).
Anyhow, I was cruising eBay today and saw this ad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... NA:US:1123
If he'd have only smoked the right stuff, with a little luck, I could have had a Derby horse . . .
Anyone remember a contest in the 60s to win a Derby horse?

kentucky club contest
I can remember that there was a contest sponsored by kentucky club brand of pipe tobacco
you had to send in a box top with name - I like everyone submitted plenty of them but was so disppointed when I did not win a Kentucky Derby Horse -
my father did not smoke pipe tobacco so I had to buy it myself (or have an older kid buy it for me) - I threw out the tobacco & sent in the wrapper with the infomration on the inside - I waited for the deadline to pass & then there was no mail from the contest - what a sad day that was!!!
