I laughed all the way to the bank @ people who "stood against him beucase they were afraid he would be riding drunk" and calling him over the hill. he's quite possibly the most talanted jockey in america when he's sober.
watch him ride, you will see how a jockey is supposed to ride, even when he loses.
He had a 10 to 1 shot i picked of his, was the 10 horse i think, 2 turn race, the second the gate broke he hit the rail saved ground and gave the horse a legit shot to win the race instead of doing what bejerano did in the best pal going 10 wide like he's riding zenyatta
He saves ground, horses run for him and if he has the lead in the stretch on a horse with any type of ability you can forget it.

100% correct..
Say what you want, Pat Valenzuela can flat out ride a racehorse. Watch his race right after his stakes win yesterday. He held his position forcing the rider inside of him who was next to a loose horse to steady slightly causing that horse to lose the race by a nose to his horse. Only a master rider thinks split second like that..
That was a thoughtless horrendous ride..

If Pval was on it, and just flat out rode Bejarano. If Pval was on Sway Away then Sway Away would have won. Bejarano seems to be off his game, like the ride he gave Blind Luck in the Hollywood Oaks.
Pval is a great rider, but lacking on a personal level. He'll stay clean for awhile but we all know how this story probably ends. I hope I'm wrong in this case.

I need to add that I'm a big Bejarano fan and maybe too critical of him. He did win with Wickedly Perfect in the G3 Sorrento S. after all, but he just doesn't seem as on fire as he had been.
I do think Sway Away will turn the tables on J.P.'s Gusto in the Del Mar Futurity.

I can't get too mad i cashed on wickedly perfect. i although i lost on sway away. i thought sway away was a stone cold lock after looking at him in the post parade he just looks so physically more mature then the other horses. he is going to relish going futher.
I never was all that impressed with bejerano. it's not hard to win 3 a day when everyone puts you on 6/5 2/1 shots in 6 horse fields.
he is lacking. I would take garcia over him any day of the week if the mounts being equal.

I noticed that Pval was really letting JP's Gusto gallop out and it would not surprise me if J.P.'s Gusto could get a mile despite the speed breeding. These two should be battling it out in the DM Futurity next, and a half furlong more will only improve Sway Away's chances.
Bejarano is a 1st or 2nd leading rider at just about every meet but Pval just outrode him and I'm thinking Bejarano can't wait to turn the tables. It looked like Pval was saying something to Bejarano in the gallop out.
Maybe Bejarano is getting too comfortable and Pval is hungry to prove he still has it, and his critics (I'm one of them) are wrong.
