Bill Finley Comes Up With Another "Bullet" Column

Postby Patuxet » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:03 am

His op-ed in today's Thoroughbred Daily News is titled: "TAMPA BAY DOWNS: A TRACK THAT GETS IT". It's prompted by the fact that one day last week Tampa Bay Downs out-handled Santa Anita.

Finely concludes: "Without slot machines, in a terrible economy and, during a period in this country where betting handle has fallen dramatically, little Tampa Bay Downs is a great success story. They didn't reinvent the wheel or the sport. They just understand how a business, any business, should be run."

In the same edition there are two smart letters precipitated by the death of Ned Evans which underline the continuing importance of owner-breeders to the spot.
