High Fly

I was surprised to see someone had written "A Shame" in reference to his being gelded on the pedigree info for this horse. If only more owners would do so with stallions that fail to produce, think of how the market and quality of the breed in general would benefit.

It's a shame he did not work out as a sire, people tend to seem to remember him being a bad sire and thinking he must have been an avg horse. horse could flat out run. I always thought he was the best of the Zito 5 that year.

QUOTE:We felt a responsibility to do right by the industry, and we know he’s happier. He’s got a pal, and he’s not in solitary confinement because he’s a stud, and with no mares coming to him, that’s a miserable life.”

If more people were that responsible less horses would suffer.

I wonder if it would not make a lot of human studs happier if they were gelded..

Certainly would be the responsible thing to do in many cases and would definitely improve the breed.

ROTFL.

You know, in my show horse days, when men used to start talking about how much more tractable geldings were than mares, I'd suggest that if they were making the comparison to humans, they'd better bear in mind the gelding process before they took their argument to its logical conclusion . . .

But getting back to High Fly - I think they did what they thought was right for the horse & at the end of the day, if more of us did what we thought was right for the horse, ALL the horses would be better off.
