UShip has some interesting stats on their UShip.com web site this morning..
I have used them and there are some good deals to be had; i.e., earlier this year a UShip transported hauled a colt for TX to WV in a private box stall for $550.
And I liked the transporter very much. H Found he lives close and will probably have him board a couple of mares later this summer.

To those of you who have used uship -
Did you just ask for a bid or did you give a requested price? A specific travel date or a general date range? Did you pay to add any of the options? I didn't take seriously the part about paying to put a picture of the horse to be shipped online to get better interest, but perhaps that was a mistake?
I went through the motions but finally deleted the post (because I wanted to find out both what people who liked the service did, and what people who didn't like the service did).
And Valley Girl brings up the point - how do you qualify a shipper as "the one" for you? [I never got far enough in the process to see whether there was a way to do that].
We almost always ship our own, but were looking at a horse in the Southwest, which was farther than I wanted to drive.

I don't own any stock in UShip and only postee this for others to use if they saw fit to do so.
I must have been very lucky..
I've used them a half dozen times and hasd no problems. Also thought the process was simple and straight forward..
All I did the last time was post that i wanted a colt shipped from a Zip Code in TX to a X ZIP code in WV and I wanted the horse shipped w/i a week to 10 days..
That's all and I started receiving bids and was able to ask any questions I wanted of thos bidders and all sent pictures of their rigs and resumes'
Again, must have been very lucky

Well that is great. I would like to know whom you used. I did the research for the I used and their rig was nice, but the people driving really had no clue what they were doing. I think they may have been new, regardless, they still should have hired professionals. They were extremely late, had poor communication skills, couldn't tie a hay net if their life depended on it, and worst of all, they had no idea which horses were getting dropped off where. So scary!
