What about:
Roving Boy - gallant 2yo Champion that was injured and missed his 3 yo season, but came back and won while fatally breaking down one stride past the wire as a 4yo
Soldier Field - Linda Rice trained, this horse had brilliance and an incredible mind - won the G3 Lamplighter but was headed for greater things - tremendous turn of foot - perhaps the best horse no one ever heard of...
Precisionist - BC Sprint winner, could go 2 turns, amazing horse
Desert Hero - Mandella trained, brilliant, laminitis victim
Gilded Time - BC Juvenile winner - came back in only 3yo start and ran 2nd in BC Mile
Coaltown - Champion sprinter but more than that - overhsadowed by stablemate Citation
A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

Agree with the inclusion of Awesome Again on this list.
