Trainer dies?

Anyone here of a Michigan trainer dying as a result of his horse? Last I heard he was at a Chicago track. He use to board at my farm for years. Could be any track that it happened at, he would go to OH, IL, KY, WV, MI and anywhere in between. I don't see anything in the news yet.

ETA: I am just hearing bits and pieces, I guess it was the trainers son or nephew. Its a bunch of gossip and I just want to verify what happened.

Maybe he was a trainer? Is this website real? No details on what happened except that it was due to a horse related injury at the track. He didn't ride so I am assuming he was kicked?

I just heard that a trainers son was killed in an accident on the farm. Don't know the trainers name but he is a MI trainer. The son was on a date and they were riding around, she on someones pony and he on a racehorse that bolted in some road way and launched him, he broke his neck on impact and died instantly. Is this the guy? I work with his brother.

Yes that sounds like him. I did a google search and it had him listed as a trainer on some of the horses. You know how the rumor mill goes...they said it was at the track and he got knocked down. I am not sure what farm it was at. Too bad he was a nice guy. Boarded at my place for years. Brother Harry?

No brother Joe, maybe this is not the same incident. That makes this so much worse, 2 in such a short amount of time. He may have been listed as trainer on some as his dad is older. Thay grew up with Wayne Catalano, he flew here for the funneral. Thats how I found out about this as we had common contacts from the past. Joe is the one that told me about Blake Miller, I grew up with the family, his step sister was my best friend, the Millers I mean.

His dad is Joe so maybe its the same person. I think Harry is the cousin now that I think about it. I sure hope it wasn't 2 different incidents.

All in all it's a very sad situation. I know bad things happen when we play with 1200# wired animals but this kind of thing is horriable. He wasn't wearing a helmit, but from what I was told that wouldn't have made a difference anyway
