I participated in a golf tournament yesterday for injured jockey Michael Martinez. Michael was paralyzed from the waste down last summer when his horse went down at GGF. He is a candidate for an experimental stem cell treatment. A link to the story is below.
The tournament fund raiser was spearheaded by Ray Harris, the jockey agent for Russell Baze. Ray did a fantastic job. It was wondeful to see the NorCal Racing community come together for a terrific, gutty young man. Michael, wife and baby daughter made it a point to stop by and say hello to all participants. Harris announced the event raised over 30k for Michael who thanked the crowd during dinner. A terrific day with fun had by all. Good luck with the stem cell treatments Michael!!
