Foreign movie making? Scam
Probably scam but if it was real it might be fun and profitable. This is obviously foreign but you should be able to get a hint if it's real by checking with the local hotels. Ask if they have a large block of rooms reserved for that time frame. Check with local caterers to see if they have a booking for an outside location for several days. Stranger things have happened and in this economy?
Lastly if you want to play along ask them to send you a copy of the script so you can choose which horses would suit their needs best. Have them email it. Give them a ridiculous but almost real quote for what you would charge. Ask who they will be using for the insurance binder, [you want $1+ million dollar coverage] and what bank they will be using for their production account.
If you don't want to play along hit reply with your favorite expletive in large font and send......

Assistant directors certainly know how to spell their titles. And Motek is in Amsterdam, not London. I vote scam. I imagine that you'd only have to give them an account and routing number to wire the rent money....
Did you recently put a horse for sale on a website? I listed a horse on a local equestrian network and almost immediately got a call from a very insistent buyer from Saudi Arabia or some crap like that asking me to arrange to ship this very common mare for $6000. We just said, "First person with cash in the hand" and hung up. The next ad I placed said "Don't even bother to try to scam us. Cash only in the hand, no deliveries to foreign countries or special arrangements" and we did not get any of those kinds of contacts.

No, Rogue! Don't steal business from me!
I got that VERY same letter from Danny!
I'm so confused, though . . . surely the film is to be shot in MY state (Pennsylvania) not yours.
My new-best-friend Danny must be a lil confused.
[I especially enjoyed the August rental that takes place the 1st week of September when I saw it in my in-box]

The real Danny Boyle directed Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting among other films. That's probably where your Danny Boyle came up with his name.

Wow, somebody ought to send that email to Boyle's production company. If that was me, I'd be very interested in finding the perpetrator.

Definitely a scam. The exact same letter was posted in 2008 in the Chronicle of the Horse forums.
