throat latch

What is up with people putting them on so tight?? It infuriates me to see these horses choked like that. I wonder who taught them?? Poor horses can't breath if they flex their necks!!!

I was taught that you should be able to fit your fist in the throatlatch, and two fingers in the noseband - but I see people crank both up tight all the time.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Its an idiotic way of "Trying" to keep their head down.
And this is a dangerous way. The bronce riders do that alot here. I had one jerk do that to my oldest gelding and he couldn't breath, flipped over backwards... he broke his femur.
Hopefully the idiot learned.
