Re: racing routes at saratoga yesterday for 5YO and up?
It's a jump race (the weights should have been a tip off).
Not unusual to see jump races written for 4 up, sometimes 5 and up. However it is unusual to see a race that short over the smaller NSA portable fences to be restricted to 5up. Usually 5up is for longer distances over the bigger fences.
The Grand National is for 6 and up.
I realized it was over jumps, the distance made that clear, but Saratoga isn't even supposed to be open till Friday. Turns out buried in their general info page is a blurb about a non-wagering preview day. The results of those races didn't make it to the Equibase results though. But the entries did. If you can't bet, they don't care who wins??
