that is why that part of the country is called tornado alley! - we are pretty safe here in new england - lots of mountains - we have other issues ie cold, snow (not this year either) & thunder storms - some localized flooding int he spring time (as houses should not have been built on farm land) - but for the most part we are pretty safe
hope everyone on this board is safe - same with the 4 footed ones also

We need to keep all thoses effected in ID, KY, IL, AL, et al in our thoughts and prayers. The last two storms have been tragic events.
Although we live in a river valley with 1000 plus ridges and have been immune to these types of storms, I told my wife that I was going out Monday and get one of the new "area" weather alert radios. We've got the older model and it goes off for areas hundreds of miles away. Finally, I took the batteries out. We weren't getting any sleep. The newer models can be programmed for a user's immediate area.

One of the most destructive tornadoes in modern times was an F5 in November in Connecticut.
Nowhere is really safe downstream from the clash of warm and cold air masses, and the landfall of hurricanes.
May 2013: Plan ahead now for the Phalaris/Teddy Centennial!
