I just don't understand all the negative and nasty postings lately.
I've met some amazing people online here, and had some great discussions.
However, time for me to move on.
See ya, PQ folks.

You don't HAVE to read all that bad stuff.. you could just hang around racing, pedigree analysis, and places like that...
Ditto that, Springboro!
This sort of petty bickering rears its head from time to time just about everywhere, including the pq forum. I don't think the latest installment is indicative of any lasting change here.

Let me try to help you understand. I may be blunt to the point of some people thinking me rude but I never deliberately berate people insulting their intelligence. I try to keep a good humor in my posts although I know sometimes I am the only one who gets it. When someone insults me and questions my integrity, I have a right to respond. It is not only me that he insults, it is anyone who dares to disagree or have an alternative opinion than his or just someone he chooses to insult. I have always found the best way to respond to lies is with the truth. Everything I have said that might be thought out of line with the forum policies was a response to a condescending remark by one person (maybe 2 but I can validate that one too). I can back up everything I have posted and those things that were called libelous are easily verified to be fact online.
On public forum members have a right to call BS on blatant lies and misrepresentations - without which they are no longer forums.
I fear the wrong person is leaving.

I would hate to see any RULE ABIDING poster leave; that includes you, springboro.
Here's what happens: As time goes on, people become gradually looser and looser with the rules (the SAME RULES that have been posted for years, and the same rules that everyone agreed to abide by when they became members here.) Things very gradually begin to degenerate to the point where something must be done, then when something IS done, those who are breaking the rules complain that they are being targeted and singled out for [insert some personal vendetta here]... basically anything and everything BUT the actual rule breaking that they are getting in trouble for.
Then, these posters start accusations of favoritism and personal attacks; some of the posters who have broken the rules CONTINUE to ramp up their rule-breaking instead of calming down and saying what they want to say WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE RULES.
This eventually leads to a few bans, either temporary or permanent, and then things calm down and everyone carries on as they should be able to. It's a cycle, and it has gone on since long before this forum was in this format and was under moderated status. It's just the way that it is.

Frankly I have had no problem with the way you manage this board. The problem as I see it in this instance, is that apparently because of your work schedule, you asked the other mods to fill in, and one of the mods in particular filled in with a sledge hammer when a tweezers would have been much more appropriate, and the issues and problems escalated beyond appropriate proportion as to be ludicrous.
I still miss the "rants" thread, but I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse (pardon the metaphor) on that issue. I thought Madelyn's suggestion brilliant, and kept the sniping off the other threads. and frankly those who read and posted there seemed to have the understanding that the purpose of that thread was to let off steam. So they did. Apparently one of the mods took issue with the thread (jeez don't you guys communicate with each other?) and bang, slam its not only gone but a couple of posters there are being vilified for posting a rant on a rant thread.
This has become somewhat entertaining in a bad sort of way, I hope we get back to talking horses soon.
Well spoken Roguelet and hopefully your prediction will come true.
I would agree with keeping the "rant" trend going IF, indeed, the rants and attacks had moved there, which they did not.
Too bad, it was a good idea but did not clean up the other trends as promised.

Shammy Davis is a very knowledgable horseman and many on this forum, especially including me, have benefited from his knowledge and advice.
However Shammy was also a Marine. let me correct that, Shammy is also a Marine and should know better than to fly into the face of authority. this is a privately owned forum and the rules for participating are clear. And this privately owned site has the authority to enforce the rules as they see fit.
The moderators posted several warnings that certain activities must stop or action would be taken.. Most of offenders took note and backed off, maybe not as far as they should, but far enough to avoid being baned.
Shammy, on the other hand, chose to become a martyr and he will be missed.
Personally if some one had to be sacrificed to drive the above home, I wish it had been another.

We know that being banned is a temporary thing. All you have to do is let things blow over then come back reincarnated, even more venomous. Shammy's only violation (IMO) was to buck the administration. If this were a workplace or the military it would be understandable but a forum is not those things when it becomes like them, it will cease to be fun to participate. I thought Shammy was probably the most beneficial poster on the forum.
