Harvey Clarke bought her out of the Ocala two year old sale in 2004, where she worked great and was well thought of. She then kicked her stall and injured her hock and had to have surgery. They healed her up, and she won at first asking at Belmont. They were all fired up and pointing her for a stakes race, and then she chipped an ankle and had to have surgery again, which did not go well. They decided to breed her.
His agent advised Clarke to sell I'll Have Another as a yearling, he was a real weakling and had a terrible walk behind. Great lesson in how horses develop at different stages.
Clarke still owns Arch's Gal Edith, and don't feel too bad for him, as he still owns her two year old by Tapit. Safe to say she will bring more than the $11,000 the Derby winner did.
Someone told me she lost her foal this year, but don't quote me.
