End of 2012 deaths on Bloodhorse.com

Postby erhrdt3 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 2:07 pm

just got done going through the 70 pictures of horses and people that passed away this year.

Maram? so young, says died of acute infection..what is that? She looked as beautiful as Eblouisante, looked big too

Sightseeing..sounded like he had the intestinal surgery and it did not work

There were some horses that were 10-14 years of age and it couldn't have been due to breakdowns. Just to name a few, there were alot of course that led full lives, some living to 32, but I'm surprised at the young ones.

This is sad.

Also those of you who know what was being done to famous photographer Tony Leonard down there in KY will agree that was not a nice thing. For the privacy of Mr. Leonard, I won't put any more info. as I don't know if it was publicized or not. My best friend/trainer down in Lexington who's also an attorney knew about the situation. God Rest his Soul, he gave us incredibly gorgeous photos.

For all their size and strength, horses are very fragile creatures. And their digestive system could have been designed by a sadist. The old adage "Thoroughbreds get up every morning and try to commit suicide" is very true of all horses. The variety of ways they can find to injure themselves is legion--even under optimum living conditions. Not to mention that they are generally terrible rehab patients. The number of horses lost to breakdowns is miniscule compared to the number that simply succumb to the inherent fragility of their design.

I did not even know Potesta had broken down. Yet she somehow managed to make it, a great story, its on the Blood Horse. There are photos of the beautiful girl after the surgery, you can see the scars on her left front, but she made it.

I guess it was a condylar fracture. Must be a big difference between that and smashed sesamoids which cost the great Ruffian her life.

Now they are going to sell Potesta, after all she went through, and she'll probably go over to Japan as well. What the hell? We are going to end up in a short few years with all these stallions standing around here in America and all the great mares over in Japan.
