Grand National 2013
The more I get to know people, the more I love animals.
JOHN Smith's Grand National hero Auroras Encore gives hope to owners working on a shoestring budget as the son of Second Empire - who scooped just shy of £550,000 for landing the Aintree showpiece - was picked up by his trainer Sue Smith's husband Harvey for just 9,500gns at the DBS August sale in 2005.
Despite the bargain basement price, Auroras Encore - who was also sold as a yearling for €7,000 at Tattersalls Ireland - has some impressive regal bloodlines and his sire and dam were raced by the two Flat racing powerhouses of Coolmore and Darley.

Hi Taff,
Nice to hear that. There have been so many horses who started over the flat and ended up converted to champion jumper's. I understand they worked hard to make the course safer for horse and rider. I believe no horse or rider's were injured during the first running over the new safety minded course. They all jumped well over the first six fences before the first spill occured. Here's the race for those of you who haven't seen it. TJ
