 And just look at all that Turn-to he's carrying.

Yeah, I know. Bad Sam. I couldn't resist.

It's far enough back that I wouldn't freak out about it.

I'd be more concerned about the inbreeding to Secretariat. When the hell has THAT ever worked?

Check the soundness in those 3 sire lines, and find out how many lifetime starts their progeny made. This is the key to producing soundness.

If their progeny average starts is 9 or below, its time to abandon the ship, as the sharks are hungry.

yikes, that's a powerful pedigree. The thing I notice is that that 3 of the broodmare's are by Secretariat (and they all three themselves are designated Reines) with the four male lines being represented by Mr. P., Bold Reasoning, and two Northern Dancer lines.

Me... I like it fine!

Well actually inbreeding to Secretariat, generally speaking, has been VERY successful. Some of could be result of the PROLIFERATION of Storm Cat-line mares running around looking for mates, but perhaps some of it was actually planned.

Its 4 yrs actually. I think the original poster was trying to update what kind of runner the horse turned out to be. A successful runner and he didnt break down. Win Win.

Here are a few other dillies for you:

Higate Beau Affair

For the life of me I cant understand the logic in doing what they did on this breeding

And Admired By All - his dam was bred to her sire's full brother - not once, not twice (she lost the 2nd foal ... ) but THREE times!

http://www.pedigreequery.com/admired+by+all

And the poor now yearling colt has not only had to contend with colic bout(s) but a broken splint bone as well. Do ya think maybe the man upstairs is telling you this is NOT a good thing to be doing year after year???

IMO - this is being done solely, 100% to produce a certain "colour" and for no other logical or sane reason ...

Tiger Ridge is an example of good IMO inbreeding, he has several good winners who stayed sound. When you look at his picture, I can't see all the Secretariat in him maybe he looks like Somethingroyal.

Actually - I have a question on inbreeding "highlights"

Why are some of the ancestors highlighted in different colours but others arent?

With Admired By All (now THAT'S an unsuitable / laughable name if I ever heard one! ) why are Gold Apollo, Issue's Call, Store Bought Woman, Deer Lodge, Wild Jone, etc NOT highlighted, but Issue of Gold, Milkie, Queen Debonair all are???

I guess in this case, you'd need a whole box of Crayola's to highlight ALL of the inbreeding going on through every single generation!!!

Once a horse is highlighted as an inbred ancestor, all his forebears are a given, unless they appear through more than one descendant.

Using this example, Gold Apollo & Issue's Call aren't highlighted because both thier appearances in the pedigree are through Issue of Gold, who is highlighted already. Milkie is still highlighted, though, because he appears through two different foals - Gold Apollo & Queen Debonair.

Hope that clears it up. :D

Also, if anyone's wondering about the significance of the colors themselves - there isn't any. Refresh the screen and they'll change.
