How Tall is Afleet Alexx?

Postby rascal » Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:52 am

Announcer kept saying AA was small in pre-race chit chat. How tall is he? :?:
My father saw his great grandfather, 6 generations back, Polynesian, win the Belmont back in 1945 during the war. he says that was a thrill he'll never forget.

On another note ( and probably should be a new post), does tongue tying really always help a horse breathe better during a race? Sure didn't help Giacomo yesterday :?:

I saw him up close and personal yesterday. Looked pretty average to me (height-wise--of course. **LOL**---all muscle in the hind end).

went to the barn after the belmont stakes to visit Alex. Not tall, but built like a freight train.

Afleet Alex is little but mighty! It will be fun to see him run in the BC later this year. Wonder if Lava Man will somehow get to run in the BC? Heard it would take 180K to get him in...???

His (Lava Man's) trainer said absolutely not when Charlsey (sp?) asked him after the race. Who knows if there'll be enough pressure to make him change his mind. Depends I guess on what Lava Man does the rest of the time til the BC.

I think Alex should run in the sprint- because wouldn't it just be fun to see the Triple Crown hero pitted against the sprinting sensation, Mr. Lost in the Fog? And if not at the Breeder's Cup they should meet. Somewhere. Somehow.
People always say that 3yo championship is already decided- I say *Face Off!!!* And whoever kicks the other's butt the farthest is the winner. If one steamrolls the other then we know the answer loud and clear :)
And if either one has excuses for their loss (oh, his hoof was sore, he had a bee sting on his butt) then do the best outta three!
Think good ole ESPN could manage to broadcast that sensation without postponing it for Little League overtime? ;)

During the Kentucky Derby, they showed an aerial camera shot of GIACOMO passing by en-route to his win and he looked like the more massive horse of the field, or at least, the broader of the field. Did anyone saw this angle and would like to comment?

Blessings,

That's photography, and your mind possibly playing tricks. A lighter object (gray horse) will stand out more, appear to occupy more space. That's the way your brain is wired, most likely.

But then again, maybe not.
