Getting MORE than you bargained for!

Postby TrueColours » Thu Aug 18, 2005 7:24 pm

Well - my latest acquisition came home last night :)

She is a beyond lovely 1994 chestnut sabino mare named Schatzi von Eich, by All for Fun out of Exact Pleasure by What a Pleasure.

Here's a link to her pedigree:

http://www.pedigreequery.com/schatzi+von+eich

I didnt have the greatest of pictures to buy her from, but by kind of squinting and putting bits and pieces of her together from the 8 or so pictures, I was able to determine that I liked her enough to buy her.

She is a massive mare - looks more like a Hanoverian broodmare in foal than she does a TB mare NOT in foal! :D
She is 16.1hh, has a chest on her like a Mack truck, a huge girth and a very substantial top line.
A beautiful head with a wide blaze and a funky marking down the side of her mouth, 2 tall stockings and 2 HUGE white belly spots, and a personality to die for and wonderful movement

I was expecting and hoping to *like* her - instead I *LOVE* her - she is one of the nicest mares I have bought! :D

She is going to be a fabulous cross with Guaranteed Gold for hopefully a spotty sabino palomino & white foal!

The people that owned her were beyond nice and above board to deal with which is again - so darned nice when you are buying them sight unseen.

One of those really nice stories with better than a happy ending!

She got her mane pulled today and its picture time tomorrow so should have some pictures of her up on my site tomorrow.

Thats my good news story for the day! :)

True Color-- I know sometime in the past we spoke of a mare I used to work with, Northern Eyes, and how she throws black foals with bald faces, high whites and belly spots. Well one of her flashy daughters is still showing up weekly on my stable alert, running in the claiming ranks at 11 years old. Her name is Bewitching Eyes. Thought you might want to check her out as she is pretty affordable now. No idea how big she is but the brothers that I worked with were both 16.3 - 17h by late 2yo year.
If you can not laugh at yourself, you will not be able to take it when I laugh at you! ;)

Skipitgirl - no - I never got your email on her! Otherwise I probably would have owned her LONG ago instead of waiting until the 11th hour to do so!

She is awfully neat - I am just downloading pictures of her now, so will be able to post them shortly

Sorry I never responded to you and honestly - its because I never got your email! :)

Congratulations!

Off topic: Northern Eyes is listed as having blue eyes. I was under the impression that TBs do not have blue eyes. Can TBs have blue eyes?

Oh yes - they certainly CAN have blue eyes!

Check out my new mare - Whatever - who is listed at:

http://www.angelfire.com/on3/TrueColoursFarm/mares.html

She has the 2 ice blue eyes which is a common trait in splash white colour patterns

There are also some pictures of my new mare - Schatzi von Eich there as well - right under Whatever's picture

Schatzi is halfway down the page - click on her main picture and it takes you into her photo album

Neat mare - she and Guaranteed Gold should have a STUNNING palomino sabino foal together!

Here is a picture of her as well

and one of her large belly spots:

She is a very nice looking mare! Especially sight unseen - congratulations with her.
As for Whatever - She looks like she is all ready for halloween with a ghost mask on! She is so cute.

Your new mare is lovely- best of luck with her. I enjoyed how "old" her pedigree is- the years sort of jump back quickly.

And WOW to the blue eyes! What a treat- I've never seen a blue-eyed TB before. Thanks :)

Donna-

Congratulations, she is indeed, a very lovely mare, I really like her expression (besides her coloring of course). Appears like she has a very nice disposition - all the qualities you want to produce a youngster! ;)

Your breeding program and produce are exemplary and my wishes for continued success!! Very, very nice!!

Thanks everyone! It looks like she is already sold, actually

We are breeding her next week and if she gets in foal, I have a buyer over in Europe that will be shipping her over in November after she passes the 60 day mark and goes through quarantine

nferro - I know what you mean about Whatever! She reminds me of a circus mime or one of the Japanese geisha girls!
I am looking forward to getting her home here SO much, and then I have to mull over what I am going to do with her - run her next year towards the end of the year (she turns 2 years old this October 2005) as a 3 year old, or wait and run her at 4 (to give her a little more chance to grow up and develop and catch up with the other NA born TB's that have 8+ months on her!) or ride and breed her?

Big dilema - I will probably know more of which way to go with her come spring ...

Thanks again! :)
