Halo--board member in Florida?

Postby bcassidy » Sun Feb 26, 2006 8:47 am

Halo- do you know anything about a stallion which stands in Florida called Stark Ridge? My system is getting some very good numbers on his ability to produce nice race horses for a 1,000.00 stud fee. I couldn't find much information on him, thought you might know something about him or the farm where he stands. Hope you can help. This guy has all the look of Northern Afleet!
By the way if you know anyone that is interested in a season or two to Max's Pal, I know the previous owner has some shares he is not going to use this year. Hope all is well.
best regards Brendan

Last year he stood at Tiffany Farms and his stats were 15 foals, 13 runners, 11 winners.Got some tough blood in his veins.....Lyphard,Riva Ridge, Ribot and Northern Dancer. He raced at 3,4 and 5yrs with 21 starts 5 wins one small stake at Oaklawn and $147,000. Durable female line with Balto Star somewhere in there.

Brendan, I think Wilf gave you all the info available. Ive never seen him or any of his foals. I sure wish Northern Afleet had stayed here one more year, Ive got 2 yearlings that I wouldnt trade for anything.

Wilf--thanks, I was actually hoping someone knew him or the farm more personally.
I would love to know the CL of the mares he has seen so far. The one thing that will skew my data is if the book of mares is way above average, obviously the mares have as much to do with the offspring as the sire does. I haven't been able to find the AEI or CL on this stallion but maybe the farm has it. Does anyone know anything about Tiffany Farms? How many stallions do they stand? Do they have their own broodmare band? Are they a commercial or breed to race operation? Where in the state are they located? What does Stark Ridge look like physically, size? conformation? etc?
He looks to me like he could be the next Northern Afleet but I really need more information on his book of mares before I could make that statement with more conviction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You gotta love his stud fee at $1,000.00 dollars.

Halo, keep those Northern Afleet babies as long as you can, I really believe NA's stud fee will go up substantially in the next two years. I can see him being a 75k to 100k stallion in the not too distant future. He definitely has what it takes to be an elite stallion. My system is still getting great numbers on him, even with the very average book of mares he covered in Florida. The Ky crowd may penalize any foal that wasn't produced until after the move to Ky, but I believe NA will even be able to overcome this shortcoming in the not too distant future. NA can definitely deliver the goods, I can't wait to see the foal I get from my mare this year. It sounds like I should hope it looks as good as the two you have on the ground.
Any information you could pick up on Stark Ridge would be greatly appreciated. He is definitely my kind of stallion, he may not be commercial, but he also delivers the goods for a rock bottom stud fee. I would really like to know more about his book of mares and what he throws physically in his offspring. Also any information about the farm he stands at would be greatly appreciated. I will probably be calling the farm later this week but I wanted to find out as much about him as I can before I speak with them.
best regards Brendan

Here is his page from the stallion register, other than that I don't really know much about him.

I have to assume you have checked out his progeny stats here:

Nappy, thanks, that helped alot. I like the fact he is 16.2. One of the mares I would like to send to him is very tall.
