Louis - Boswellia is an herbal pain reliever...which leaves me wondering what (if any) effect the rest of the ingredients have. There have been studies with just Glucosamine Sulfate that show limited if any effect when compared with placibo in a double blind study with 1500 subjects over a several year time frame. My point, if it isn't clear, is that joint supplements that use the benefits of pain relieving/anti-inflammatory herbs as part of the ingredient list are, in effect, no different from taking Ibuprophen or Acetimeniphen (sp?). They also can have long term negative effects on the digestive system, just like NSAID's.

The only "nutraceutical" I found any real effect from for arthritis (in me or my horse) is injectable glucosamine (I have generic but there are brand names too, for more money of course). The ones you take orally are almost wiped out by the digestive processes before they can be absorbed. Injected in the muscle though they get into the bloodstream and get carried around to the joints. You can also inject the joints but that starts to add up to big bucks and I've not seen any horses that did better with that than just IM injections.

The avacado and soybean oil in the artho product really slams the door on inflamation.
Before I started on this product my leg muscles were tieing up, and it was a chore to walk a long distance. Now I am able to walk without my leg muscles tieing up.

There is one that balances the gut so absorption is better...Rapid Response. www.amerdon.com

I have tried almost all the NSAID"s and find Motrin seems to work best for me.
Ditto on the Motrin. Also helps sleep.
Best pain reliever for me...HORSES!
