Shakis....

What a good run in the Bernard Baruch! New course record. A Machiavellian colt out of the female family of Rahy, Singspiel, Saint Ballado, etc. Would LOVE to see this colt at stud here in the states (I believe he's entire), but I doubt it.

I agree. With the phenomenal success of Street Cry I suspect we may see more Machiavellian sons retiring to the U.S. Shakis may need to show some good form on dirt or polytrack, though, to generate much interest.

I just hope he doesn't end up like the underrated and under utilized SAHM.

Sahm was about as solid and promising a young stallion as their was in the Bluegrass. What a fantastic value he was.

I'd love to see this horse here. I actually like his pedigree a lot more than Sligo Bay for the majority of US mares.

Ok, so back to Shakis. Were Michael and myself the only two who found this horse an intriguing prospect yesterday?

Shakis is well bred, indeed as his GSV score of 76.46 is very, very high. And don't forget the 2nd dam is out of a Vice Regent mare thence a Herbager mare, thence a Cohoes mare. On the other hand as stated on another list he was practically useless as a top horse until moved to the more liberal medication continent of North America. How much was due to his genetics and how much to the vet, and superior...tongue in cheek, training in NA

Good point, George. But I would still like to see more of this horse. With that bottom-line, he would have my interest at stud.

I found the horse intriguing too... my only concern is that he is a rather small horse and probably has limited commercial appeal

I loved the way he dove inside of Ballast and put him away before galloping off to victory.

Haven't seen him in person, but he looks very small on the replay.
