If I can learn to hit shift, anyone can. I just think you can't type very well so are using all caps to speed yourself up. Now you know how much it upsets some, give it a try. That way, when you really want to scream, we will know. ;)

I don't agree with the nice part at all...........but if folks knew what I had to do here in 24 hours, they'd write in caps too. It is about speed, you are correct, but I do know how to type. I really want to know now, if bold is screaming? No one has told me yet, and I can't imagine it being offensive, but easier to see, I have to squint to see as it is, LOL

I think it is a 1/9 shot that those who replied to your original query did so because their response was to help. However, finding that you need an attitudinal adjustment by your subsequent responses to reasonable requests, I doubt if those who most likely have the best information for your purposes will be so cooperative in the future.

I think you are wrong. I think they really don't care.

It is not nice to be a cyberspace bully, but it is a lot safer than being a playground bully who runs into someone who will not run or be intimidated.

I didn't tell someone they were going to be flamed, stabbed, or shot George. The moderator did, you may need to re-read that. As I said before there was another way to tell me, she chose to take the cyberspace bully path, not me. And as for the playground, your right I was never bullied, but if someone threw sand in my face, they got lots of sand back, and usually chose to leave me alone or treat me the way they wanted to be treated, kindly.

Of course, you will probably flame me for this post as it is intended to be judgmental on your attitude, but it is more important for me to inform the others of your intent so that they be aware when they deal with you.

I don't believe people are afraid that join in on conversations here. But I do know for a fact that many don't care to be on chat forums because moderators let mud slinging go on way to long, and good people are too shy to even ask a question for fear of crap like this or someone calling them poor or stupid..........that is the very sad part!

By the way, this is called a response to what you wrote. If you call it flamming, stabbing, or shooting that is plain childish, that's what TV is for. Because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean I dislike you, which is what you are implying about me, too bad. People that deal with me directly know I don't play games and speak honestly and straight to the point. Some folks old and young can't seem to handle that, other's like myself appreciate getting to the point and not wasting time.

Here's a list of "netiquette".

http://www.livinginternet.com/i/ia_nq.htm

If you click on the "remember emotion" link, the very first thing mentioned is writing in caps and what that means to readers.

The rules are well documented and if you're going to spend time on any interactive website, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with them.

Wow ASB............I am amazed LOL
I had no clue their were actually websites set up
to tell you how to talk online, that is bizarre. And to think
some company paid someone to think up that, format it
and put it online is really funny :) Well I think when people buy
computers they ought to put a red book in there titled,

"If you don't read this book you will be considered *dumb,
obnoxious, screaming, and just not fit to own new technology!"

Thank you again for this tid bit, although funny, I will try and reserve myself to never ever typing in caps unless I really have to yell, because one day, I might be so happy and excited, I'll have to!

If Emily Post can tell me how to hold a fork I see nothing wrong with someone coming up with s standard for emailing and posting..

I understand there was once not a Webster to tell us how to spell and every one kind of sounded out the words as they wrote them.. I never learned to spell but I still think that was progress

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caps_lock

Im almost 30yo and ever since Ive been going online (mid 90s), I always knew that all CAPS = shouting. So yes, just because you didnt know and someone tries to explain something doesnt mean that you should get all argumentative and snappy..

FYI : October 22 is CAPS lock day. That should give you something to look forward to!

Did you just stagger home from the pub again Danzig? It seems like Friday night is your night for venting under the influence which is a pity as you have a wealth of knowledge to share even in the light of day!

It's true a lot of time has been spent on the etiquette of CAPS or no CAPS...
and REEDHILL... the moderator was speaking of BITNET.. not BRISNET...
See.. I emphasized something, to make a point.
I think that CAPS is easier to read sometimes, but if someone asks you nicely to not do something or is trying to help you out with some advice that may be beneficial to you, just take it gracefully...
Let me illustrate my point:
Dear Reedhill, please stop using all caps because you sound like a jerk.

now this...

DEAR REEDHILL, PLEASE STOP USING ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOU SOUND LIKE A JERK.

there is a difference.

You know Scientific, no matter which way you type "jerk" it still means the same thing. I'm not lowering myself to your level, no need here. It's funny, these so called Moderators will let Danzig get away with saying "Fing" and "Basrd" and do absolutley nothing about it and let you call me a jerk and do nothing about it. It seems if you aren't in a special click or group here with the moderstors you get "in trouble" for little things, but cuss like a sailor.......aww it's ok. (Even though I agree with Danzig) There is no fairness here. What a joke having anything to do with PQ............ Happy Easter to those who think this is crap.

Sorry reedhill... I wasn't actually calling you a jerk... or a JERK.
I was just trying to make a point.. that it is POSSIBLE that someone took offense with you using all caps.
That's all... some people read things differently, and you are not right or wrong for using all caps... moderator was just trying to help out.
Remember you are the one who then got defensive and went on to explain how you and yours communicates.. which is super....
I know it may be frustrating or embarrassing, but just take it in stride....learn something and move one.
No biggie... you are getting help and information from others.. and that is what you want right?
Like I said, and you are missing the point, I think CAPS is easier to read sometimes...I agree with you and UNDERSTAND why you use caps... but not everyone does, and not everyone does on this site.
And I am not at any 'lowered level'.... just trying to help and/or make a point.. if you are in no space to 'hear' what people are saying or their intent, you should ask instead of getting irate.
And if you don't like the Moderators on this site, start your own.
But I do like the fact that you now oblige to the etiquette of using lowercase....

Wow! :? Someone needs to post a warning or better yet, a WARNING. I just wandered in to see what the current day rates were in KY. This thread with its emphasis on net etiquette has taken the discussion of horseracing and its costs to new heights. It makes me think that Louis' "INBREEDING AND BREAKDOWNS" is becoming somewhat dull and a little lackluster. Well, now that I know the going day rate in KY, I'm heading back to the safe havens of HORSE CARE and PEDIGREE ANALYSIS. Woops. I mean "Horse Care and Pedigree Analysis."
