Oh and case in point... horse claimed off such a trainer, by a 20% trainer (very respectable).. within 60-90 days drops off the "cliff" and doesnt run same numbers again... Not until 60 days has passed. And some going to breeding shed lose weight and lose hair I've heard... That's not normal.
Racing and retraining.
I race at Woodbine, I think the leading trainer up here for 2012 was Mark Casse who was winning at around 20%. Big guys like Pletcher and Baffert win at under 30%. These numbers are fantastic, anything higher than that and I start asking qusetions.
We had a guy from Western Canada show up at Woodbine last year, he had been putting up an almost a 40% win average out west where they perhaps don't watch as carefully. The guy shipped out after 6 months and only managed to win 1 race... did he forget his horsemanship skills while in Ontario? How do you explain going from 40% win average to 5%?

baffert and pletcher at 30% make sense beucase they aren't going to toy around with a borderline allowance level horse if they dont' think the horse is legit they will not blink about dropping him. Plus, truth be told both know what they are doing (spit).
that I get. I'm talking about like, oh what's that guy at tampa bay downs.. such and such is such a good trainer I was watching on HRTV and millie ball was like "oh yeah such and such for the year is winning at a 60% clip" and it was like, august lol. I'm like dude come on lol. And you look at all the races they win and they are like oh 25k 25k 20k claimer..5k claimer 3/5 Post time odds. that's not training. that's not training anymore than a trainer going to a sale and buying everything that costs over 500k being a "good eye for horseflesh"
