Gerry....Spitzer tried to smear Joe Bruno, racing's BIGGEST advocate in the NY Assembly, by misusing his office. Spitzer should be impeached!

I'm with Gerry - feel better fast, Winds!

It's in Hapursville, east of Binghamton, a mile from exit 6 off of 88. We have an incredible view (we're in the middle of a mountain) but our land is a gentle slope at least in the front 5 acres (where we want to put our house). The back 18 acres is mostly pine trees that someone thought they could farm and didn't. That is mostly flat, that's where we're going to put the fields (with run in sheds).

The barn's not going to be elaborate, but very functional and close to the house. Winters can be brutal. I'm big on keeping everything turned out, even in inclement weather, but not blizzards. We won't breed until April, so we can have March babies (hopefully) so when they are old enough to be kept out with mom 24/7 the weather will co operate.

I've done this (racing/breeding) a long time and this is the way I can have horses, hopefully make some money with minimum labor throughout the year.

From today's NY Post - here's how Joe Bruno is going after Spitzer for the crap he's pulled:

I thought California politics was dirty but this NY stuff is so obvious it's almost a joke. What's the average IQ of a New Yorker??

It's sick, Zinn. Spitzer admits to accepting bribes from the franchise bidders and sees nothing wrong with it!
http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/nation ... dders.aspx

He took $409,000 from the casino and land developers (Excelsior) and sees no conflict of interest. You're right - how braindead are the people in NY? I'm glad I moved seven years ago!

This was Spitzer before he became Governor - he was looking to throw the NYRA in jail:

This piece of crap Spitzer should be shot at dawn! WAKE UP, NEW YORK - RACING WILL DIE!!!!

Spitzer sure has fallen fast from the opinion of him as the fraud fighting AG to his current public opinion level. As AG, I found him to be just a publicity hound.....loved tauting big investigations only to quietly settle them because of weak evidence. He played the "friend of the little man" trumpet straight to Albany, but he's a monster ego...that's it....nothing more. I've always felt you have to be careful about the pols that have never worked a real day in their lives. It's too bad....NY sure needs better.
And DOWN the stretch they come!

Winds--I know exactly where you are moving. Its pretty out that way but I am glad you are on a hill ..the floods out there last year were devasting. I spend alot of time out there since my Mom works near Masonville and I have a couple friends out that way and do a lot of transporting during breeding season for our stallions.
There was a gorgeous farm in Greene that we eyed for a long while and by the time we were ready to go for it, it had been sold.
Stinks to have a heart doesnt it..but glad the meds are helping.

and you think the NYRA DOES care about racing?

Capital Play, one of the compaines that were up for bid, also runs the Melbourne Cup... in austraila, they hvae shown that they were able to get 25 percent OF THE ENTIRE COUNTRY to the races... what has the NYRA done?

Do you know why Saratoga broke the attendance record this year (except for there being no rain)? It had more giveaways than ever before, including beach chairs...people were paying the $3 Grandstand admission over and over just to get vouchers for all the stuff given away. Last year, I saw a guy with a pushcar full of T-shirts that were given away...he must have added 40 to the admission total that day just by himself!

On Saratoga giveaway days, which are usually on Sundays, there are more people leaving the park with goodies than going in. The traffic is madness to get in, parking is crazy, and all those people that go just to get their giveaways and then leave sell all that stuff on ebay. The bobblehead dolls were going for $60 on ebay.
