Stolen from another thread about steroids:
Whitfield also said steroids are contributing to the frequent breakdowns of racehorses.
Trainer Rick Dutrow Jr., who trains Kentucky Derby favorite Big Brown, admits using the steroid stanozolol (Winstrol) on his horses.
"I give all my horses Winstrol on the 15th of every month," Dutrow says. "If they (the authorities) say I can't use it anymore I won't."

I NEVER read a word "about Asmussen drugging Curlin".
Maybe Dutrow is really "wonder women".. "He can drug his horse when the derby announced there would be pre-race drug testing for ALL Derby horses.
I'm surprised at Paulick...no...now that I think about it, all those KY hardboots are "angry that another NEW YORK trainer won the Derby".
Add Gary West to another Dutrow/NY detractor...HE NEVER castigated fellow Texas Asmussen for HIS drug violations. Hypocrites all. Including Paulick. No wonder the Blood Horse got rid of him.
reese wrote::roll: trainer Steve Asmussen has more drug violations than "every other trainer added together". Asmussen races 4 times the horses as every other trainer, but Asmussen was suspended for 6 months for serious drug violations in Tx and LA.

Dutrow is a VERY talented trainer...... but he also has a fair amount of larceny in him... but then so do most trainers... especially true in the current era. But just like MLB players they either keep up with the competitors.... or go by the wayside. A truly honest trainer would starve to death.
And you are right about the reporters you mentioned. They have their "home boys" and those they castigate at every opportunity. They are as phony as the people they are pointing fingers at.
I may be wrong, but the way I read Paulick's article was more of an indictment against the IEAH guys than the trainers they are associated with. Almost as if, based upon past findings, the ownership group is getting away with cheating and the trainers take the punishment.
I'm not saying there is any actual truth to this by any means. My take is that Paulick seems to think IEAH goes around finding a trainer willing to do things 'their way'.
As for BB, I can't imagine any way he was "drugged" for the Derby. I agree this thread is poorly titled.
