who administers the steroid then?
Good catch!

Sounds like an alcoholic saying he doesn't need a drink or a smoker saying they can quit any time. Dutrow needs to find some of his missing brain cells before he grants anymore interviews.
They are going back to Prado. Bet on it.

eh too back Casino drive went back, he'd whip him without any medications
If people think Casino Drive doesn't receive various pharmaceutical products/treatments from time to time I've got a bridge to sell to each and every one of them. Curlin went to Dubai and kicked their behinds running "cold" as required in Dubai. And Dutrow won two races on the same card. Thoughts?
that's because if you knew anything about handicapping our horses are much better than much of the crap they run over in Dubai. I'm not so sure an alowance horse couldn't win one of those big races. I can't tell you how much better curlin is than most of those horses he beat. Just like most of the european horses whip our but in the breeder cup mile and turf.
Last summer, the Pennsylvania Horse and Harness Racing Commission said its ban on steroids, with testing, would begin April 1. Gov. Edward G. Rendell (D) declared that his state will be leading the charge to ban steroids in thoroughbred and harness racing.
‘‘Pennsylvania’s horse and harness racing industries are the backbone of our state’s $1.5 billion equine industry,” Rendell said. ‘‘We are the first state in the region to begin testing for anabolic steroids in racehorses, and we are setting a national standard by ensuring that our racehorses are clean of steroids and any other performance-enhancing substances.”

This is my own personal theory.
Big brown will be juiced as much as possible in order to reclaim his Derby form and sweep the travers. This will save some of his plummeting stud fee.
Since steroids will be banned in the Breeder's cup there will be no intention of running him there. He will be retired with some excuse after the travers.
There is no way in hell they will risk taking this horse off winstrol if he runs well in the travers.
my personal belief is given what occurred after his first start, and then the preakness he has a pending wall separation/abscess in the next month.

I've heard conflicting stories. One says BB was off Winstrol since April. If so, why didn't it affect his performance in the Derby and the Preakness?

Agree with all the previous post. How about a match race with Curlin...on the juice, of course. Seems like I saw some track was going to put up a 5 million dollar purse. That may have been if BB won the TC. I thought humans could take a drug to mask steroids.

Bunty,
If he took a dose in the middle of April, it would've just held him through the Preakness. We don't know the dose given and that makes a difference. Each individual has a different response and duration of effect as well. I feel pretty good for about 5 to 6 weeks after an epidural steroid injection....and I don't mean just pain relief.

If one is to beleive Dutrow that his last shot was April 15th
then the peak performace effect would have occurred the first week of may during the derby.
what about the preakness you ask?
while BB preakness was visually scintilating, in reality it was against a very weak field.
also according to thorough-graph his performance in the preakness was already actually showing signs of significant regression from the derby.
thoroughgraph also predicted big brown would regress in the belmont
"By our figures," Brown said, "he didn't run nearly as well in the
Preakness. He backed up substantially. He was seven lengths worse, with no wind and without significant ground loss. If he runs the same race here that he did in the Preakness, against a field that was much weaker than the Derby, he becomes just one of the horses who can win the Belmont. And that brings a couple of other horses into play.
"But if he regresses another seven lengths in the Belmont, he won't win."

Dutrow won two of the biggest races on the same card with Benny the Bull and Diamond Stripes AND THEY TEST FOR STEROIDS IN DUBAI.... remember?.... Brass Hat was DQed a couple years back for being on steroids.
So please explain to one and all how these 3 horses all won without steroids in their system in Dubai this past spring..... and surely you're not naive enough to think Assmussen doesn't use steroids. Dutrow at least has enough honesty to admit using them. When was the last time any other leading trainer fessed up to such? (crickets chirping waiting for that reply that will never come...................).
Point is if US horses can beat the testing system in Dubai so do the Japanese and Europeans in their racing venues and to think they don't use drugs legal and otherwise is beyond naive despite what they say.

well i thought i explained myself, even off the stuff and at 50% they are better than the horses that run at Dubai! Just as a European horse usually dominates the turf, we rule the dirt. There are always exceptions, but really grab a daily racing form and compare Benny to Bull to their best sprinter. I can take a fast claimer and beat most of those horses they have there. Same thing if we went to Japan and ran aginst their horses on dirt. Espcially with the inbreeding we do for speed.
let's make it easy ban all steroids and let's see how well Dutrow does, end the discussion. Let's test the horses like they do olympic athletes.

Absolutely correct. As it turns out, Dutrow might just be the best thing to happen to horse racing in a loooong time.
