Wait a minute. Having a synthetic track is mandatory for any track having a TB race meet more than 28 days a year. If SA is making this decision, it would have to be that the CHRB had told them that they were going to rescind their policy. This doesn't sound right. The CHRB just made three racetracks in CA spend millions for synthetic, and now they will reverse themselves? That sounds pretty brave politically. I'm not betting on that.

The CHRB has already said publicly that it would consider lifting the mandate in specific cases. What may happen is that going back to dirt will be a contingency of the sale of Santa Anita. Under those circumstances, believe me they won't stand in the way considering what a disaster in general this has been and how unpopular it is outside of a few vocal supporters.

FWIW I've heard what Louis has heard and the sources seem pretty credible.

Like I said and I quote myself .....
All the relatives to the CRB that owned shares in the synthetic made their money. I'd like to see them out there shoveling that garbage off the tracks.
Let's make that a mandate!

Money was made now they don't care what the tracks do!
